Formerly, the term referred to a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken, bat or snake.

While I’ve never bitten the head off of any (live) animal, I have to say that the term has come a long way. Geek has become trendy these days, while webmaster is a bit too pompous (and D&D relational) to carry forth as a title.

Nonetheless, so many clients expect that you can do everything, it seems only fair that we be given the web equivalent to Dungeon Master.
