Propaganda III

When all is said and done, you can’t live inside your computer (or so I keep telling myself). Last week, on the 4th of July, I managed to act on this and got out to see Propaganda III at the Phoenix Hotel in San Francisco. To those of you who have never been to this landmark, has-been rock star hotel, it’s a strange little Southern California feeling place, stuck smack in the center of the Tenderloin.

The excursion reminded me of a discussion I had the week prior, at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo. Lauren and I got to talking about how designers, web designers in particular, should start to pay more attention to what is happening in the art world. We’ve seen a return to traditional design techniques and typography in some of the more recent web design trends. The Propaganda III show was well worth checking out.
